3 1/2 tsp. instant yeast

1/2 cup lukewarm water

1/2 cup sugar

1/2 cup butter

1 cup half and half

2 eggs room temperature

1/4 tsp powdered saffron

4- 4 1/2 cup flour

Glaze:

1 egg

2 tablespoons milk

In a large bowl , dissolve the yeast in the water. Add 1 tablespoon sugar and let stand until it foams. Add the remaining sugar, butter, cream, saffron, and eggs. Beat well. Stir in the flour, 1 cup at a time, beating well to keep smooth and satiny. All the flour should be moistened. Cover and refrigerate for 2-24 hours. To make buns, divide dough into 24 pieces. Shape into s shapes for example or any other desired shape. Place on a parchment lined baking sheet and allow to rise until puffy. Brush with egg wash.  Bake in oven set at 375 degrees for 12-15 minutes or until golden. It’s traditional to decorate with raisins before baking
