Preheat oven to 375 degrees

3-4 nectarines or peaches, cut in half

Marzipan or almond paste, take a piece of marzipan and roll it into a ball that will fill the space where the pit once was.

Pate Brisee

1 2/3 cups flour

1/2 tsp salt

1/2 cup butter

1 egg, lightly beaten

about 2 tsp. water

Whisk flour and salt together, then work butter into flour. Mix in egg and enough water to bind ingredients. Form into a ball and wrap in plastic wrap. Refrigerate for at least 1 hour.

Roll out the dough and place the marzipan filled halved nectarines cut side down onto pastry dough. Cut around the fruit leaving about 1/4 inch extra. Press the dough neatly around the sides of the fruit and brush with beaten egg. Cut a larger piece of pastry to cover the fruit. Lay it over the fruit and press onto pastry base. Do not overlap it in a thick wedge under base. Trim excess pastry . Decorate with pastry leaves and brush with beaten egg. Sprinkle with sanding sugar or bake without . Bake for about 40 minutes until golden. Sprinkle with powdered sugar.
